So imagine if you took the beautiful woman that is Neutral Milk Hotel and the ugly stepchild with impeccible taste that is The Microphones. They have a child. They name that child Sgt. Dunbar and the Hobo Banned. True to roots, there are pop elements along with a lot of really good songwriting and some beautiful lyrical choices in this 9-person band from Albany, New York. Their two albums, The Thing About Time and While Waiting for the Space Age make for wonderful listening. As far as I know, they’re not officially signed yet.
